March 26, 1946 – September 23, 2023

It is with immense sadness that we announce the passing of Marlene Grace Bulloch on September 23, 2023.

Marlene was born March 26, 1946, to George and Blanche Staples in Portage La Prairie Manitoba. She was the youngest of four siblings and was raised on a farm near Oakville Manitoba. She graduated high school in Oakville followed by business college in Portage.

On August 21st, 1965, she married the love of her life, Garry Bulloch, and they set out to their new home in Pine Point, NWT where Garry worked on heavy equipment in the mine. Garry’s mother passed away within days after they were married so Garry’s young sister lived with them in Pine Point.

Following a year of living in NWT, they moved to Edmonton, where their daughter and son were born. They made Edmonton their home until 1979 and then moved to Red Deer where they raised their children and started their own crane business. Marlene worked hard raising the kids as well as running the administrative side of the business.

In 1990, they fulfilled their dream of moving to a farm west of Bowden. She was in her glory, pursuing her passions including quilting, scrapbooking, baking, gardening and most importantly, enjoying time with their grandchildren. They loved to entertain and it wasn’t uncommon for friends and family from near and far to be welcomed to the Bulloch farm.

Marlene loved her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ and was an active member in the churches she attended throughout the years. She was passionate about missions and had the opportunity to travel to Africa, Thailand and Guatemala on mission trips.

Garry and Marlene also travelled to numerous destinations and enjoyed two winters down south in their RV.

Following the passing of her husband in 2002, she moved to Airdrie to be close to her children and grandchildren. In 2018, she moved into an independent senior living facility in Cochrane. She enjoyed the social aspect of being in a community and developed many new friendships.

She will be lovingly missed by her daughter, Jill Samuel and her son, Daryl Bulloch (Debbie), grandson Levi Bulloch (Rachel), sister Lucille Elvins and brother Bryan Staples (Jean), sisters-in-law, Glenda Cornelius (Russ) and Gloria Bulloch as well as numerous nieces and nephews, cousins and many close friends.

She was predeceased by her husband, Garry Bulloch, and her grandson Jacob Bulloch. Her sister, Ferne Leslie and her parents George and Blanche Staples. Brothers-in-law, Barry Leslie, Robert Elvins, Rodney Bulloch, mother-in-law Grace Bulloch and father-in-law Stanley Bulloch.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to Agape Hospice, Calgary Alberta, the amazing facility where Marlene spent her final days.

The family would like to extend a huge thank you to Grande Avenue Village staff, Dr. Solyom, Cochrane Homecare and Palliative Care, Rockyview Private Healthcare and the wonderful staff at Agape Hospice. Marlene spent her final days knowing she was in caring hands and passed away peacefully.

A private service will be held and Marlene will be laid to rest with her dear husband in Innisfail, Alberta.
