Chad Cameron Fontaine, born on December 8, 1968, in Calgary, Alberta, passed away suddenly in Calgary on June 12, 2025. He leaves behind a legacy characterized by his vibrant spirit, professional accomplishments, and deep familial bonds.
Chad pursued his education with determination, attending Henry Wise Wood High School in Calgary. His academic journey took him to NAIT in Edmonton and further to Heriot-Watt University School of Business in Edinburgh, Scotland where he attended and obtained his MBA. This pursuit of knowledge laid the groundwork for a successful career spanning several prominent organizations, notably Alberta Innovates, Edmonton International Airport, Nestle in the USA, and, most recently, KPMG in Calgary. Throughout his professional endeavors, Chad was known for his wit, thoughtful nature, and entertaining personality, qualities that earned him the respect and admiration of colleagues and clients alike.
Outside of his professional life, Chad was an avid enthusiast of cycling and hiking. He had a passion for driving fast cars and motorcycles which he passed onto Natalia, visiting test tracks to indulge in his love for speed. Travel was another great passion for Chad, particularly his adventures to Mexico, Hawaii and many U.S States during the time he lived in St. Louis, MO, where he made numerous cherished memories.
Chad is survived by his daughter, Natalia, who resides in Edmonton, and her mother, Dana. He is also survived by his mother, Janice Crowther (Roy) from Cochrane; his father, Camille Fontaine (Linda) from Calgary; brothers Sean and Wade (Natalie); as well as nieces Parke, Ava, Emelia and Keira, and nephew Hayden. He is remembered fondly by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and cherished friends.
Chad is preceded in death by his grandparents, Carolyn and Carl, and Stella and Eugene, whose memories are held close by all who knew him.
In honor of Chad’s life, a memorial service will be held at St Peter's Lutheran Church in Cochrane, Alberta, on Sunday, June 29, 2025, at 2:00 PM. He will be deeply missed but forever remembered for the joy, laughter, and love he brought into the lives of those around him.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Chad's memory to the Cochrane and Area Humane Society.
