Educated at Kamsack Collegiate and Reliance Business School, she built a fulfilling career as a Legal Secretary, Sales Agent for Mary Kay Cosmetics and played an integral role in the family business, Triple EEE Electric, alongside her devoted husband, Ernie, with whom she shared 54 remarkable years of marriage. Marie was not only a professional but also an extraordinary homemaker who created a warm and welcoming environment for her family, neighbors and friends.

Her personality shone through in her daily life; full of energy and liveliness. She always put others before herself, working quietly often in the background to ensure that everything was taken care of for those around her. Marie was known as someone who dedicated her time and efforts to the service of her family and friends. Her active involvement in her church and various community organizations demonstrated her desire to support and uplift those around her.

Marie was a cherished part of the St. Mary's Parish community, illustrating her commitment to a life devoted to service. She held essential roles with The Venturers Society of Calgary, Resicare Society of Calgary and Special Olympics Alpine Skiing in Calgary.

Predeceased by her parents, Teresa Barton (nee Meier) and Edward Barton, and her brothers John (‘’Eddie’’) and Dale, Marie's legacy lives on through her loving family. She is survived by her devoted husband Ernie; her son, Mark of Calgary; her daughter, Joni Stenning of California, son-in-law Brad and cherished grandchildren Owen and William Stenning. Marie is also lovingly remembered by her sister Joyce Kent (nee Barton, formerly Abrahamson) of Regina; her nephew, Doug Abrahamson of Calgary, his wife Vanessa and their daughters Sierra and Simone; nieces, Terri Kreklewich (nee Abrahamson) of Regina, her husband Gary and son Dominik; and Crystal Kritikos (nee Abrahamson) of North Dakota, her husband James and sons Taylor and Connor Muz. She will also be deeply missed by extended family and many close friends whose lives she touched.
