John Osenton passed away peacefully at Bethany Care Centre (Cochrane) at the age of 92 with his son James, and his wife of sixty-nine years, Rene, by his side. John was born and raised in Kent, England and worked as a farmer until immigrating with his family to Canada in 1959. He lived in Langley, British Columbia for forty-eight years and was very involved with the Langley Chamber of Commerce, Rotary Club, Langley Lawn Bowling Club, and St. Andrew’s Anglican Church. He was recognized as Langley Senior Citizen of the year in 1984. In 2007 John and his wife moved to a retirement centre in Calgary to be closer to family. John will be lovingly remembered by his children, James (Celia), Margaret (Ian), and Norman (Marion), his grandchildren Tanya (Frank), Evan (Claire), and Marc (Hilary), his delightful great-granddaughters, Emily, Fiona, and Rachel, and many other extended family members both in Canada and in England. In accordance with John’s wishes there will not be a formal Memorial Service. A private celebration of his life will be arranged by the family at a future date.
