With deep love and profound sadness, we announce the passing of Raymond Adolph Haenni, born March 27, 1941, in Regina, Saskatchewan. A cherished husband, devoted father, loving grandfather and great-grandfather, and treasured brother. Raymond's presence brought warmth, wisdom, and laughter to all who had the honor of knowing him.
Raymond is survived by his beloved wife, Claudia Haenni, with whom he shared a lifetime of love, partnership, and quiet devotion. The love they shared was remarkable. He is also lovingly remembered by his surviving family, his daughters, Rhonda Gogol (with her husband, Darryl Gogol) and Ramona Kinsella (with her husband, Wray Kinsella); his grandchildren, Kirsten Pertich (and her husband, Paul Pertich), Ashley Crosby (and her husband, Luke Crosby), Samantha Fanning (and her husband, Matthew Fanning), and Emily Kemp (and her husband, Brad Kemp), and Carson Gogol; and his great-grandchildren, Kipton, Samuel, Gunner, Lucy, James, Rose, Oakley, Brooks and Archer. He is also survived by his sisters, Jennette English (and her husband, Manuel English), and Erna May Pierce.
Raymond grew up in Calgary, Alberta, with his loving parents, Adolf and Erna Haenni. From a young age, he carried a deep sense of responsibility, matched by a fun-loving spirit. He built a respected career in emergency services, ultimately serving as the District Fire Chief at the Calgary Airport, where his leadership and dedication left a lasting legacy. After many years of service, he retired at the age of 52. Outside of work, Raymond was a devoted father who found joy in camping trips, skiing adventures, family gatherings, and endless games—always bringing fun and laughter wherever he went.
Raymond was a man of quiet strength, steadfast integrity, and a twinkle of mischief always in his eyes. He approached life with a generous heart, a sharp mind, and a sense of humor. He was always up for a breakfast meeting and loved a good facetime chat. A natural storyteller and a lover of laughter, Raymond delighted in pulling lighthearted pranks and sharing clever jokes—always lifting spirits with his wit.
He was a strategic thinker who loved a good game of chess, often using it as a way to connect with others over thoughtful competition and warm conversation. You could always find him searching for the next great bargain, and boy did he let you know. Whether through his work, his friendships, or the deep devotion he had for his family, Raymond brought joy, wisdom, and warmth into every life he touched. He viewed the world with optimism, humor, and compassion, leaving behind a legacy rich with love, laughter, and meaningful moments.
Each of Raymond’s grandchildren and great-grandchildren were a source of immense pride and joy for him. He was deeply involved in their lives, offering encouragement, storytelling, and a legacy of love that will echo across generations. His wisdom, humor, and kindness will live on in the hearts of his family.
He will be missed beyond measure and remembered always.
There will not be a formal funeral however if you wish you could send in donations to either the Make A Wish Foundation or The Calgary Firefighters Burn Treatment Society (CFBTS).
