Robert Wayne Miller and Wendy Gayle Miller, deeply cherished members of their community and family, have both passed away, leaving a legacy of love and memories that will be held dear by those who knew them.
Wendy, known affectionately as "Gramma Wendy", passed away peacefully on December 29, 2021, after a brief battle with Covid in Calgary. Her family is grateful for the compassionate care she received, particularly from Mikayla, a beloved family member and nurse, who was there to hold Wendy’s hand as she took her final breaths. Wendy (nee Ogston) was born on May 8, 1942 and grew up in various cities across Canada, including Montreal, Port Arthur, Regina, and eventually Calgary. She dedicated many years of her career to Mount Royal College, where she worked as a Library Processing Technician.
Wendy was defined by her vibrant spirit and her genuine love for people. She was an avid baker, often making cookies to share with her neighbors and the children in her community. A consummate people person, she loved visiting with friends and family, always bringing laughter and joy wherever she went. Her affection for animals, especially her beloved dogs Daisy and Crystal, mirrored her nurturing character. In her later years, she delighted in watching cooking, baking, and travel shows, and found joy in simple pleasures, such as trips on the local Seniors bus service around Calgary and engaging with her garden when health permitted.
Robert Wayne Miller, born January 30, 1942, passed away peacefully at his home in Cochrane on February 28, 2025. Born and raised in Calgary, Robert enjoyed a distinguished career as a Graphic Designer with Shell, spanning over thirty years. He was known for his quiet nature and his passion for sports, always ready to watch a game on television, with a special fondness for curling. He also quietly excelled as a world-class bowler, winning many awards as he travelled the country as part of the Calgary Men's Masters team.
Together, Robert and Wendy forged a rich life filled with cherished memories. They lived in various locations, including Calgary, Strathmore, and ultimately Cochrane to be closer to family. Among their proudest accomplishments are their contributions to their community and their involvement in the Calgary Stampede, a beloved event that brought them immense joy, especially when their granddaughter Candice was crowned Stampede Queen in 2012. Both Robert and Wendy's passion for all things Western has instilled a sense of tradition and community spirit that will carry on in their family.
Robert was the only child of Lydia and Robert (Dick) Miller, while Wendy is remembered as the beloved daughter of Homer and Mildred Ogston. They leave behind a legacy of love in their two children, Patty (Robert) Lee and Dan (Debbie) Miller, as well as three grandchildren, Candice (Patrice) Lee, Thomas (Kendra) Lee, and Melissa Miller, and great-grandchildren Charlotte and Henry. They are also survived by Wendy's siblings, Patricia (Pius) Rolheiser and Michael (Sandra) Ogston, nieces Cindy and Susan, nephew Timothy, along with extended family, particularly Brenda and Dave Robertson and their children Tyler and Mikayla.
