Laura (Née Parent) Tennant

December 8, 1983 — March 5, 2022

December 08, 1983 – March 05, 2022

It is with unimaginable sadness we share that Laura Tennant died on Saturday, March 5, 2022 in Kelowna B.C. after a boulder hit their Jeep while she and her family were driving near Golden, B.C. Laura was air-lifted to Kelowna General Hospital where she succumbed to her injuries. She was held by her beloved wife, surrounded by her twin sister, parents and parents-in-law and had her children and more family on the phone expressing their love. She was 38.

Laura is survived by her wife, Lisa Tennant; children, Matéo and Aviana; parents, Jean & Micheline Parent; twin sister, Maude Parent (Timothée Weiss); nephews, Benjamin & Maxime; older sister, Amélie Parent; nephew and niece, Jérémy and Charlie; parents-in-law, Alan and Rona Tennant; sister-in-law, Michelle Carre; nephew and niece, Lochlan and Smith; as well as extended family, and many close friends.

Laura was born and raised in Montreal, Q.C., she attended the University of Sherbrooke where she earned her degree in Kinesiology. Over the years she lived in Winnipeg, Banff, Calgary and eventually Cochrane. Laura explored the world travelling to places such as Australia, Europe, United Kingdom, Asia and the United States. The trip to Asia was part of Laura achieving her MBA with Haskayne School of Business at the University of Calgary (amazingly in English, her second language).

Laura and Lisa met in 2012 and Lisa can still remember the first moment she met Laura and shook her hand. Their bond was immediate, and their relationship grew from there. In 2017, their son Matéo was born. After moving from Calgary to Cochrane in 2018 they welcomed their daughter, Aviana in 2019. Cochrane was where they chose to call home because their backyard was the Rocky Mountains. They often enjoyed camping trips and family adventures in the summer and many days on the ski hill in the winter.

When Laura proposed in September 2016, they knew right away that they wanted to celebrate their wedding in the mountains and settled on Kicking Horse Mountain, where they were married on March 7, 2020. After a chilly ceremony with blowing snow, the weather settled for the most beautiful photos capturing their love with a background of natural beauty.

Laura was an exceptional human being, respected and loved by everyone she knew. She was an avid outdoorswoman, a calming presence and always up for a laugh. She was a loving mother and Lisa’s soulmate.

We are indebted to the many good samaritans, first responders, emergency room professionals, doctors, nurses and volunteers who so courageously and graciously came to our aid. You are heroes one and all!

A Celebration of Life will be held at The Cochrane RancheHouse (101 Ranchehouse Rd, Cochrane, Alberta) on Wednesday, March 16, 2022 at 11:00am, followed by a light lunch.
