December 5, 1920 – May 7, 2012

Olga was born in Smoky Lake, Alberta to a Ukranian pioneer family with 7 girls, of which she was the second youngest. After working hard on the farm, and being her Father’s “boy”, she went on support herself by various jobs as an housekeeper, factory worker, and waitress at the Royal George Hotel in Edmonton, Alberta and as a governess in Victoria, B.C. Stricken by polio in her twenties, she struggled back to full health and went on to marry David Peter Wiebe. They moved to his hometown in Grande Prairie, Alberta in the mid-1940’s. They had three children, Lorraine Sherry Penley, Gregory Randolph Wiebe, and Caroline Audrey Williams. During this tumultuous marriage, she worked as a Nursing Aide and waitress to support her children. In the early 70’s she met the love of her life, Ernest Spafford Walroth, and they shared many outdoor adventures together in the wild lands of Alberta, British Columbia, and Alaska. She bagged a trophy elk and caught a rare albino pickerel during these happy years. After Ernest became ill, Olga moved to Cochrane to live with her youngest daughter and her husband, Caroline and Bob Williams. She stayed 17 years with her daughter and family and had tremendous times once again, living the farm life. In particular she enjoyed hunting gophers with her Jack Russell terrier, Bambi, planting a magnificent perennial garden, and enjoying Bingo dates with her Calgary friends at the Bingo Barn. After a brief few years in Edmonton, at Meadowcroft Seniors complex, she moved once again to Cochrane, to the Bethany Care Center, to be close to her youngest daughter and family. Here she spent many happy times with her friends, staff and volunteers and her favorite little dog, Aiku. Olga was predeceased by all of her sisters. Her love of nature and delightful sense of humor will live on in all those that knew her. She lived her life well and was content to pass on to her afterlife and all the adventures it will bring. No ceremony at Olga’s request. Please remember her by passing kindness on to someone that is in need.
